If there’s one thing that I am most passionate about with my dog, it’s giving him a huge bear hug. What better pet to share this experience with, than a large fluffy dog? What are the most fluffy dog breeds that can be cuddled with or given a hug? The bigger and more fluffy, the more appealing.

There are a lot of fluffy dog breeds within the dog world, and they come in various sizes and forms. However, in my view, the most fluffy dogs are the largest. In this case, just a handful of breeds of dogs make the cut.

It is believed by many that the Bernese Mountain Dog is definitely an enormously fluffy dog. Similar to most mountain breeds and other breeds, the Bernese requires a thick, fluffy coat to keep warm during the higher altitudes of mountains.

8. Bouvier des Flandres

There are many beautiful aspects about Bouvier des Flandres other than their adorable coats. In reality, they’re one of the sweetest dogs to come from France. Their powerful personality and constant commitment to their owners make them true companions. Bouvier is a noble pet.

Although they might have a curly coat, the fluff can still be compared to the best. They can make wonderful protectors for your house after you’ve had enough cuddling with them. They’re also among the most efficient herders and are commonly used on farms throughout France.

9. Eurasier

With a weight range between 40 and 70 pounds, the Eurasier is a medium or large dog breed. Their thick coat of medium length comes in an assortment of different colorings, and therefore you’ll have plenty of options to pick from.

11. Rough Collie

Highlights: Loyal, Graceful, Dignified

The Collie is a graceful and majestic dog that has been popularized through pop culture and entertainment. At 50 to 75 pounds, they’re huge dogs with a substantial frame. This makes them among the most well-known and well-loved breeds around the world.

But, not all Collies are fluffy. There are two types of Collie, two of which are the Rough Collie and Smooth Collie. The first is fully coated Collies that have longer hair. We believe they are the ones to be”the soft” Collie.

12. Leonberger

Highlights: Friendly, Calm, Cheerful

The Leonberger is a massively large dog. In reality, male Leonbergers could weigh as much as 200lbs!. The German dog is known for its extremely dense coat required to withstand the harsh winters in the country. As with all double coats dogs, it sheds heavily during the seasons.

The bright side is that the Leonberger is among the most fluffy dogs. Their coats are described by owners as soft and lush. Additionally, they’re not too aggressive or energetic, So getting a regular hug from them is very likely.

13. Old English Sheepdog

Beardies are loving; however, they can also be determined. The Scottish canine is the ideal companion for outdoor activities. Rain or not, the Bearded Collie is always eager to play with its owner. In addition, they weigh just 50 pounds, and they’re not too heavy to carry around.

16. Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier

Highlights: Friendly, Cheerful, Loyal

Although they’re not the largest, the Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier is usually thought to be a medium-sized dog breed; we could claim that they’re close to being large. Male Wheatens could be in the 60-pound range, based on their genetics and parents.

Wheatens (or Wheaties) are among the most optimistic dogs that you will see. They are almost always happy, and only a few things can make them unhappy. If you’re experiencing a difficult day, The Wheaten is always at your side to offer you a hug.

17. Standard Poodle

Highlights: Intelligent, Dignified, Active

A list of the most fluffy dogs isn’t comprehensive without the Standard Poodle – the world’s second-smartest breed. They’re not your usual fuzzy dog. However, they have plenty of fluff in specific regions like the chest, head, tails, and legs. Some prefer shaving the hair to make “fluffy pompons.”

Whatever grooming you do, Standard Poodles are dignified dogs proud of their fur. The biggest benefit for Poodles is that they are non-allergenic breeds. So even the most allergic dog owner can be in a position to pet a poodle!

If you can get past the shedding, Australians are among the most beautiful big, fluffy dog breeds (trust me, we’ve got one!) Although it’s challenging to hug them (they are constantly moving!). It’s important to note that they’re extremely energetic and need a lot of physical exercises too.

19. Giant Schnauzer

Highlights: Loyal, Obedient, Vigilant

With a weight of about 80 pounds, The Giant Schnauzer is the largest of the three varieties of Schnauzers. Like Mini and Standard one siblings, this Giant Schnauzer is just as soft. These incredible working dogs sport a strong personality and an unwavering commitment to work.

Because of their superior dog intelligence as well as their intense loyalty and an adorable coat, what more could you ask for from your dog’s companion? They’ll succeed in all jobs or roles that you assign them. When they’re not working, they’ll transform into large lap dogs.

20. Elo Dog (Eloschaboro)

21. Catalan Sheepdog

Highlights: Intelligent, Reserved, Brave

The breed was developed and bred in the north-eastern region of Spain; the Catalan Sheepdog is a soft and shaggy breed. They’re closer to medium-sized breeds; However, some males can surpass the 50-pound limit.

These dogs indeed have a fluffy coat, but they’re unique because they tend to ” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>shed in two phases. They shed their front part before shedding the second part that makes up their physique. It’s quite a sight as they go through the process since it’s like seeing dogs whose owners have forgotten to trim half of their body! 

22. Akita Inu

 Highlights: Vigilant, Devoted, Courageous

It is said that the Akita Inu is the pride of Japan, and for the right reason! They are the largest Japanese canine breed and also the most fluffy. Their soft double coat is comparatively small, but they’re extremely soft and cuddly since it’s thick and dense.

The Akitas are very soft! However, if you’re an Akita isn’t accustomed to you, it might be somewhat difficult to approach them. In the end, Akitas are generally unfriendly to strangers. However, because of this, they’re highly sought-after security dogs throughout Japan. They also love kids.

23. Borzoi

Highlights: Independent, Quiet, Gentle

The Borzoi is a beautiful pet with a fluffy coat for various reasons. They’re calm, gentle as well as very sweet. These dogs are also often called ” dumb dogs,” meanwhile, they’re much more flexible and intelligent than anyone would imagine. They’re just very independent dogs.

They are 100-pound dogs that are powerful and tough and require an experienced dog owner and a lot of socializing in the beginning. But they’re determined dogs that are prone to their own at times. But, their protective instincts are what make them excellent guardians.

24. Siberian Husky

Highlights: Outgoing, Friendly, Mischievous

Siberian Huskies are among the top big dogs in America, and they’re not without reason. Although they’re big, however, they’re fun and playful, much like toys. If they’re socialized enough, Huskies will develop close friendships with their owners making them wonderful pet dogs to snuggle with.

However, due to their playful nature, they are prone to getting into some problems. They’re described as inflexible as well as independently-minded dogs. But, it’s not impossible to acknowledge the loyalties of the Siberian Husky. They’re referred to as Velcro dogs because of the way they are.

25. Hovawart
